Warning: This entry is purely for academic reasoning and discussion for possible cure.. i don’t want any shit head of junkie to comment unnecessarily here, i encourage you not to ever take drugs for recreational purposes because it is simply not good to waste yourself.

Before reading this entry, please be sure to understand that this in no way constitute a testimonial that i ever touched marijuana, neither does it proves in any way that i have it in my possession, any act of trying to track me down and to raid me will result in severe law suit and i will make sure that i get a huge amount of money from the lawsuit, you have been warned, and i know my rights.

Marijuana, also known as weeds, or ganja or “mass” has been widely known as “drug” for many years, and many have been dumped in jail for marijuana possession or consumption.

I have a few questions, which i would have very much liked some politicians to answer [or anyone who has a valid and logical point].

I am epileptic, i know i lot of epileptics worldwide who takes marijuana as medicine to diminish stress levels and decrease seizure levels, the medical usage of marijuana is known for many other sicknesses, and can be verified by you if you wish to .. google it up.

My point is, if the patient knows it is helping him/her, the latter’s doctor doesn’t mind, why should the government intervene and say “no you can’t take that because it is illegal”?

After all, no one other than the patient himself/herself can understand the pain of his sickness and what makes him/her feel better!

Also, i can understand that you may say, we ban drugs because they tend to affect people, kill people or increase social bills for the government, e.g rehabilitation centers, coping with death of drug addicts and all….

but you have to be realist… till now, we have got no such cases of death with marijuana, also we know from studies that marijuana is NOT addictive!

so what???

i say yes, ban all hard drugs that causes death, impotence and laziness! i would go even as far as saying, kill addicts.

Can you prove that marijuana is more harmful that cigarettes??? or alcohol???

Recent studies showed that marijuana [thc] helps in growing brain cells, on the contrary, cigarettes and alcohol kills brain cells, so, if we do have cigarettes and alcohol legalized, why ban something that can be useful to patients who are suffering when you are legalizing poison such as cigarettes and alcohol???

is that some form of hypocrisy from the so called “system” where they legalize cigarettes and alcohol, because it brings in tax money, while if marijuana was legalized, it could be cultivated since it is an easy plant to cultivate and prepare, people will stop talking cigarettes and alcohol and hence provide lesser tax for the government??

Is tax more important than our health???

ban alcohol and cigarettes if you are to ban marijuana also i say!

All these countries offer medical marijuana license to patients who suffer from illnesses that can be controlled by weeds, so why not here in Mauritius?? Don’t you people realize the pain you are putting people in, sure enough, all sick people can’t vote for that, because sick people are a minority, and not many have the guts to speak out, but i believe we’ve gone too far, we need to stop acting like hypocrites, there are people who really need it…. legally rather than get it through illegal means, hence promoting illegal activities….

This is senseless to ban marijuana, when “datura” plants are grown everywhere and many consume it and this thing is lethal!

Countries who offer medical marijuana license:

#Australia
Cannabis laws state by state. Decriminalized in Western Australia & South Australia. Tasmania, Victoria, & Queensland policies involve ticketing for below 50 grams.

#Belgium
Medical license only

Canada #
Mostly medical marijuana license only

England #
Cannabis is a Class C drug in Britain. Atleast they differentiate it, Class C means least harmful, hence least legal issues.

Also please read this exerpt

The use of marijuana for medicinal purposes has a long history in the UK. It was prescribed as a medicine in the UK until 1973. At that time, it became a drug that could not be legally used as a medicine and today its medicinal use remains prohibited. The Science and Technology Committee of the House of Lords recommended that marijuana be made available for medicinal purposes in a 1998 report. This recommendation was rejected by the government which indicated that before such a change could be considered, the safety and efficacy of marijuana would have to be demonstrated. G.W. Pharmaceuticals has been given permission to grow marijuana with the aim of developing a marijuana-based medicine; clinical trials have commenced in the UK.

In March 2002 a report from the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Illicit Drugs gave British Home Secretary David Blunkett’s proposal to downgrade marijuana to “low-risk” Class C status the go ahead. While acknowledging that marijuana can be harmful, the report noted that marijuana poses fewer risks than alcohol or tobacco. Alcohol was singled out as posing far greater societal risks because it encourages risk-taking and leads to aggressive and violent behavior. According to the report marijuana “is not associated with major health problems for the individual or society.” The Advisory Council’s acknowledgement that marijuana should be reclassified came shortly after the release of a study by the South Bank University’s Criminal Policy Research Unit that found that decriminalizing marijuana would save roughly $71 million a year and free up the equivalent of 500 police officers who could instead concentrate on violent crime.

India #
Although India has a long history of the use of Cannabis, including involvement with religious traditions, it is illegal to grow or possess. In some areas, it is openly ignored by authorities. (Thanks Clude) [nothing mentionned about medical marijuana, but as you can see, they know that its least harmful]

Mexico #
Small amount for consumption is allowed

Netherlands #
Although cannabis is technically illegal to possess and sell in the Netherlands, the government does not prosecute individuals (over 18) who smoke cannabis. Possession of less than 5 grams or growing of less than 5 plants will not be prosecuted. Certain cafes/coffeeshops are allowed to sell cannabis and hold 100 grams behind the counter and another 500 grams in the back. In March of 2003, the Dutch government changed the law to allow doctors to prescribe cannabis for medical purposes through pharmacies. BBC Sep 2003.

Portugal #
Cannabis is banned in Portugal in all its forms, however since 2000 consuming and buying small quantities of cannabis (as with all other illegal drugs) is not a crime, it is only punishable by a small fine. Further, in major cities, the police have a rather tolerant atittude towards cannabis consumption and it is largely ignored. Note that anyone found possessing quantities of cannabis more than considered typical for an average user in 10-days can be presumed to be a distributor and can be prosecuted and jailed. (Thanks J)

#united states of america

A few states have medical marijuana licenses. http://www.norml.org/images/med_mj_map_poster.gif

http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=3391

With all this in mind, don’t you feel that we are banning medicinal usage of marijuana for nothing??? Patients are suffering..

Note: You can also verify this, all epilepsy related medicines have dangerous side effects, and usually :p you should respect the dosage your doctor prescribed you [and the latter will warn you of the side effects]. Marijuana can help! its not my words, research have been done in that field.

I am only an individual, this blog entry may be just a dust of nothing, but this is my thoughts, and i sincerely believe the government is making a grave injustice, those who do not suffer from that pain can easily be among the first to point their finger and judge people and say it is drug.

I want your comments, and i hope this brings some change, lots of people in the government shouted lots of words that this will be legalized, atleast for medical usage, but then, for the sake of votes, they coward out and pussy out, i guess, government works just for votes and not for what is right and what is wrong.

comments comments comments… also, i dare challenge anyone who has anything logical points to ban marijuana against medical usage! I have my reference, be ready with yours and let’s debate =)

here’s a youtube clip here [though i don't approve filming people when they undergo a seizure.. that's too private]
