No No, I’m not really into systems administration. it is related though and I have to use 6.06 as desktop – it serves the purpose of being a good distro as desktop (I updated most applications onto it) and it is the same distro I have to use at work and helps me do part of the work at home. I cannot disclose too many stuff openly.

Well, by “had abandoned,” I meant stopped upgrading and installing stuff that I don’t need. I use Windows only for testing and the only Windows OS I use is Windows 2K Pro and Data Centre.

FreeBSD is the nicest os i ever used, everything is sooo neat and where it needs to be, you feel something is bad, you know where to change, its cleanly written, and ports is sooo comfortable. Never touched gentoo, lol selman ajay mo konE ki servi gentoo..lol.

I use ubuntu 6.06 for the time being as my main os. I have no need to upgrade for the time being due to the nature of my work. I had abandoned windows a long time ago. i use flashgot to link firefox to kget but there are some problems. i prefer konqueror more and more.

I like mencoder – it encodes fast and is customisable. i know mplayer plays flv (i don’t like totem since its slide is not smooth when scrolling and the gtk window does not look good on the desktop – ati driver and compiz: big hell. i disabled 3d effects and use mplayer when i enable it)

Well, the aim of using Fast Video download is to save the time in loading a website such as MediaPirate or Videodownloader of javimoya, and hence just be able to get a download link directly to it automatically.

I see that the software version of Media Pirate seems to be only available for Windows (and the post above was for Linux-firefox.. but nevertheless it works on windows also.. since it is FOR firefox :p). Didn’t get any freeze on my comp for the time being, i’ll post ifi find something better

never used mencoder, since totem and vlc both play flv easily, on windows i use realplayer, which has a nice grabber for embedded videos.
