jujitsu
a.k.a jujutsu,jiujitsu etc..
Like i mentionned in my previous post, i am trying to make use of this holiday to burn some fat, i have started running (not jogging :p, around 3km daily in the sugar cane field areas in my village). I always wanted to do traditional Yoshin Ryu jujitsu ever since i was in form4 (don’t ask me why, i don’t know myself.. coz it follows the same philosophy of life i live).
jujitsu? Has several meaning(from what the sensei said and from what i googled), ju stands for “souplesse”, and jitsu stands for technique (reminds me of batoujutsu… technique of sword.. learnt from kenshin..lol). jujitsu is a japanese martial art.
Anywayz, the story behindi t is a bit controversial, i prefer this story, there was once a martial art sensei (Akiyama Shirobei Yoshitoki ) who once (the definition at wikipedia doesn’t explain the period before the samurai, hence doesn’t have this part) used to teach a chinese martial art (don’t remember the name), but over the time, he found out that this was not really practical, his students were getting beaten up etc.., as you all know in all martial arts, its not about violence, there’s a lot of philosophy and meditation involved in that.
So Akiyama Shirobei went on a mountain to meditate on this problem, now there was heavy snow at that time, he noticed that snow used to get collected on the branches of certain trees, and those branches/limbs used to break on the weight of the snow, then he saw on one particular weaker tree that instead of trying to hold the snow and break, it just bent and left the snow slide off and it got back to its initial position after…
From that came the Yoshin Ryu jujitsu, the principle is simple (and i always used to do that in life, i love this philosophy…), summarizing it, “push when pulled, pull when push”, simple physics :p, basically using your opponent’s force against himself
ofcourse, there are several factors to consider, you just don’t push or pull just like that.
Anywayz, that was a short recap, the first day of training taught me to use my brain instead of muscles, and how to be more efficient, salutations, belt colors, and some efw defence techniques. Was tiring though, I am practicing so as i can do better this coming week.
After training etc.. the sensei told 4 of us who were new, (2 girls, 2 boys) to go and fetch 2 tatamis which were on the roof (for drying), he separated us in groups of 2, i was paired up with the guy (a small kid in form1), and the girls were both 3rd year univ students. When we went on the roof, and tried to carry the tatami (lmao.. i thought it would be an easy job thinking it is just a mat), we were quite shocked to find out that the tatami was soaked with a LOT of water, hence was damned hard to lift, i tried to lfit that and carry alone since the lil guy wasn’t able to lift it, neither could we both try to lift it considering its weight and no grip. well.. i tried moving it a few metres away (the girls were still fighting to move it), then i notice there were wooden sticks (strong sticks), around 1metre long and and around 5cms thick, it strike me that if i roll the tatami and use the stick to hold the tatami on, then both me and my partner can easily carry it , and that’s what we did.. see picture
, so we managed to carry it and come down, came up and carried the other tatami and came down again, lmao.. the girls were still trying to move one on the roof, finally the sensei told us to get tell em to come down.
The sesnsei taught us a few more techniques, finally class was over andi came home.. very very very tired, lecorp ti p fermal…still does.. but it was damned fun. I am super excited to go again this week. Till then, i better train myself , cya l8r and keep tuned.

I don’t really enjoy martial arts. Except in movies when you just have to sit down and be awed by the actors’ cool stunts haha. But then that’s probably because I never understood how those exercises they make you do during training has any relation with an actual fight

:p its not fight, its defense, and its about philosophy.
As far as what they do in movies.. :p definitivement comme 1 paresse professionel ki mo etE.. i prefer to watch those than to actually try to do those stunts.

Movies… one rule about fights in movies (underline ‘movies’):
If you are surrounded by 10+ enemies, don’t worry. They will always try to attack you one by one and never all together.
(It’s true!)

You can learn a lot of useful stuff in movies.
For example, if ever you find yourself in a bad situation you must be aware that:
1. you can outrun an explosion
2. you can learn to use a sword, a gun or whatever weapon in an amazingly short time (sometimes even on the spot when professional bad guys are shooting at you a la mission impossible 3)
3. you can run through a barrage of gunfire and the only hurt you will have at the end of the day is a small scratch from having fallen (in the middle of the gunfire of course)
